We understand that not all households are the same, which is why we offer choice and flexibility for household waste collection.

75% of households in Holdfast Bay are on a weekly green FOGO bin collection and fortnightly red and yellow bin collections, which reduces the amount of waste going to landfill. All green waste, including food, goes for commercial composting where it reduces greenhouse gases and becomes part of the circular economy.

Large households and/or households with a family member in nappies and/or with a medical condition are eligible to upsize their fortnightly collected landfill bin from 140 L to 240 L or upsize their recycling bin from 240 L to 360 L.

Households now have the choice to remain on the default sustainable weekly green FOGO bin collections (with fortnightly yellow and red bin collections), or to choose the old service with weekly red bin collections (and fortnightly green and yellow bin collections).

You will need to remove the old service sticker from your red and green bins so we know to collect your FOGO bin weekly and landfill bin fortnightly, thank you.
Excellent. Households with five or more people, or a family member in nappies and/or with a medical condition are eligible for a larger fortnightly 240L landfill or 360L recycling bin. Your green FOGO bin will be collected weekly and your red and yellow bins will be collected fortnightly.
Thank you for filling in the Options for Weekly Waste Collection form Please collect your Old Service stickers from the Brighton Civic Centre (Monday-Friday) or Glenelg Library (open 7 days a week) for your landfill bin to be collected weekly and your green FOGO bin fortnightly. Your household will only be on the Old Service once the stickers are applied. Please email fogo@holdfast.sa.gov.au if you are unable to collect the stickers.
