Book Discussion Groups
The Library Service supports over 20 book discussion groups. The groups generally meet on a monthly basis. Members read the same book and then come together to discuss it.
No vacancies currently exist for individuals in any of the groups.
If you are interested in forming a book discussion group, or have one already with a maximum of 8 members, please contact the Library for further information.

Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Holdfast Bay Library is a voluntary organisation which supports the library service by fundraising, special events and community activities.
Community members with an interest in promoting the library and its services are welcome to join.
Membership fees are paid annually at the following rates:
Membership forms are available in the library or you can download a form below.
Once completed the form and the membership fee can be lodged at either library branch.
Children’s Storytime At Glenelg Library (Temporary Change Of Venue)
From Tuesday 16 October 2018 until Tuesday 4 December 2018 our regular Glenelg pre-school programs – Wriggle’n’Rhyme & Storytime – will be held at the Brighton Library – 20 Jetty Road, Brighton.
Times will remain the same – W’n’R 9.15 & 10am, Storytime 11am.
We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your ongoing support of our programs.
Wriggle `N` Rhyme
This is a fun 30 minute session involving rhymes, action songs and music, suitable for babies and toddlers 0-2 years (but any age is welcome).
No bookings necessary.
Wriggle 'n' Rhyme is held during school terms only but finishes in Week 8 in Term 4
- 9.15am and 10am Tuesdays at Glenelg Library Please see temporary venue change details above.
- 9.15am and 10am Thursdays and Fridays at Brighton Library
This 45 minute session is suitable for pre-school children and includes stories, finger plays, rhymes/poetry, felt board stories, puppets, songs and craft.
No bookings necessary.
Pre-school Storytime is held during school terms only but finishes in Week 8 in Term 4

1001 Books Before School Program
Reading aloud with your child has proven to be one of the most valuable activities that you can do to set your child up for success and encourage them to have a love of reading for life.
What better way to start them out on the right path than by reading them 1001 books before they go to school?
To get started with this early literacy program, please register at Holdfast Bay Libraries - Glenelg or Brighton.
A library membership is required to join the program.
Every time you complete a book with your child stamp a square on your reading passport.
A reward can be collected from the library at each milestone: 100, 250, 500, 750, and 1001 books.

Would you like a visit from the Children’s Programs Team?
We can bring our Wriggle’n’Rhyme singing or Storytime sessions to you!
Schools are encouraged to make regular bookings for classes to visit the Library. Activities may include library tours, storytelling, book talks and instruction in research methods.
Our Programs Team is available to assist children, young adults and parents with advice on books, reading material and research for assignments.
