Getting to Glenelg

From Adelaide Airport

Car: A 10-minute drive, exiting the airport left onto Sir Donald Bradman Drive and another left onto Tapley’s Hill Road. You can then access Jetty Road, Glenelg, from Anzac Highway or Brighton Road, turning right. Check out many car hire companies at the Airport or pre-book before you land.

Taxi or Uber: A 10-minute cab ride from the Airport Taxi Rank costs approximately AUD $20.

Bus: Bus number J1 will get you to Glenelg in around 25 minutes.

From Adelaide CBD

Car: A 20-minute drive, exiting the CBD via West Terrace onto Anzac Highway. You can then access Jetty Road, Glenelg, from Anzac Highway or Brighton Road, turning right.

Taxi or Uber: A 20-minute cab ride from the Airport Taxi Rank costs approximately $40 AUD.

Bus: Bus number 265 (City to Glenelg) takes approximately 35-45 minutes. Moseley Street in Glenelg has a range of buses that go to the Adelaide CBD, including numbers 265, 190, 167, and J1.

**During the State Government's Tram Grade Separation Project, these buses can be caught from Wigley Reserve or High Street, Glenelg, until 31 January 2026.**

Tram: Trams depart from the Adelaide CBD every 10-15 minutes to travel directly to Glenelg, with the final stop being Moseley Square.

**Due to the State Government's Tram Grade Separation Project, the tram service to Glenelg is temporarily suspended until 31 January 2026. There is a replacement bus service in place during this time; look out for the GLN1, GLN2, and GLN3 buses, which connect the Adelaide CBD to Glenelg via the Anzac Highway.**

Chauffeur or private hire: Ideal for business travel, airport transfers, or making a lasting impression, several chauffeur (or private hire) and limousine services are available in Adelaide.

Bike: Adelaide City Bikes are free to hire from the Adelaide CBD; follow Anzac Highway to Glenelg or check out the Mike Turtur Bikeway.

Getting to Brighton and Seacliff

Further south along the coastline of Holdfast Bay (along Brighton Road), you will find Brighton and Seacliff. Aside from having some of Adelaide’s most pristine beaches, these two areas have excellent food and drink choices, accompanied by fantastic shopping opportunities.

Car: A 10-minute drive south from Glenelg along Brighton Road, you will turn right onto Jetty Road, Brighton. Alternatively, travel a further 5 minutes along Brighton Road and turn right onto Wheatland Street to visit Seacliff.

Bus: From the Adelaide CBD, bus numbers 263 or 265 take approximately 55 minutes to travel to Brighton and Seacliff.

Train: Take the Adelaide to Seaford line, which leaves approximately every 15-25 minutes from the Adelaide Railway Station and takes approximately 45-50 minutes to travel.

Bike: Adelaide City Bikes are free to hire from the Adelaide CBD; follow Anzac Highway to Glenelg or check out the Mike Turtur Bikeway. Once in Glenelg, follow the Glenelg to Seacliff Coastal Walk all the way to Seacliff via Brighton.

Getting around Holdfast Bay

Most areas and attractions of Glenelg are within walking distance of Jetty Road, Glenelg, but if you want to look at the sights in and around Adelaide, hop on a bus or take a taxi trip.

Moseley Street in Glenelg (the last street on the left if you are heading towards the Jetty) has a range of buses going to the city: 265, 190, 167, J1, and more. There are also buses that will take you to Henley Beach, Harbour Town, Adelaide Airport, Brighton, Marion Shopping Centre, and Unley. Buses have a fee, and you can get tickets/passes from the driver or most newsagents. Once again, there are no bikes.

Sustainable transport

You can choose from taxi services, Uber, or one of the many rideshare options now available. There are also dedicated accessible services for individuals with wheelchairs or accessibility issues.

There are two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in operation in the City of Holdfast Bay:

  • Tesla Destination Charger – 2 Jetty Road, Glenelg, located in the Stamford Grand Hotel.
  • Charge Fox charging station – 626 Anzac Highway, Glenelg.

Parking options

We have a range of free and paid parking options throughout Holdfast Bay. Parking is available on the streets or within designated car parks, with signs displaying limits.
