Our beach and coastline are important council assets that many residents and visitors enjoy and use. Polluted stormwater, however, can quickly ruin the appeal of our beaches and have long-term negative impacts on our marine environment.
Building companies (and their subcontractors) must take reasonable and practical measures to prevent the deposition of building construction materials and sediments onto roadways and into the stormwater system. This is part of the Environment Protection Act 1993 requirements and Environment Protection (Water Quality) Policy, 2003.
