The City of Holdfast Bay invites young makers, designers, and creatives to register their interest in hosting a stall at the Brighton Community Fair event outside Brighton Library, 9am - 12pm Sunday 3 December 2023.
This family-friendly event will transform the gardens of Brighton Library and the surrounding car park area to bring some festive fun to Holdfast Bay. The event will feature roving Christmas performances, live music, kid’s activities, face painters, coffee & food vendors, and host outdoor market stalls by young makers showcasing a range of original products and handmade works.
Young artists, designers, and creatives aged 12 – 25 years are encouraged to complete an application form and register their interest in hosting one of the outdoor market stalls.

Please note that your application does not secure you a stall and the stallholders will be selected by a small selection panel and notified.
The trading fee to host a stall at this event will be $20. You will be required to supply your own trestle table, chair and marquee.
The selection of applicants is based on the following criteria:
- Original works designed and created by young makers
- Handcrafted, creative, and unique works that are not commercially available
- Quality products that reflect innovation and demonstrate skill and creativity
- A quantity of work that will be available for purchase by the market audience.
- No reselling of branded commercial items
By applying to be a stallholder in the Youth Maker Market component of the Brighton Community Fair event, the stallholder agrees to act in accordance with the following conditions.
1. Selection
Applications will be carefully considered against the selection criteria and the aims of the Brighton Community Fair selection panel. Applicants are not guaranteed acceptance as we have limited stalls available.
2. Stalls
Stall allocation will be determined by the selection panel. We will try to accommodate location requests however this cannot be guaranteed. Stallholders are responsible for arranging their stall operations, including change, EFT facilities, wrapping, and carry bags for customer purchases. Stallholders are encouraged to set up and display their artworks creatively to enhance their product and contribute to the market aesthetic. Please be advised there is NO power available for the stalls.
3. Public Liability
All stallholders are required to have their own public liability insurance to the value of $20,000,000. If you do not already obtain this, you will need to ensure this has been arranged through the Event coordinators prior to the event.
4. Payment
The fee to hold a stall at the Brighton Community Fair event is $20. This will need to be paid prior to the event. Once an application has been deemed successful, a payment link will be sent through.
5. Products
Please make sure that the description on your application is accurate and covers all works intended for sale. Product descriptions must cover the full range of works intended for sale. This is to maintain the balance of products available and protect the unique quality of products sold.
6. Times
Stallholders are able to set up from 7am. Please arrive on-site no later than 8am. Market stalls must be set up and ready to sell by 8:45am. The market will be open to the general public from 9am– 12pm. Stallholders are not permitted to pack up prior to 12pm.
7. Site
You will be provided with a stall site located within the designated Youth Maker Market section, in the car park area of the Brighton Bowling Club by the Brighton Library. You will need to supply your own trestle table, chair and marquee. All stall equipment including signage must be contained within the boundaries of your site, to ensure that your stall is non-obtrusive to other stallholders and leave public access clear at all times.
8. Environment & Waste
To reduce waste; stallholders are asked to consider using recycled and/or recyclable packaging. Stallholders are expected to clean up after themselves and ensure their site is left in good condition. Stallholders are required to remove all waste at the end of the day.
9. Promotion & Publicity
Any promotion of the Brighton Community Fair event will be conducted by the City of Holdfast Bay, your assistance in channeling any comment to media through Council to ensure consistency will be appreciated. The City of Holdfast Bay reserves the right to photograph the market and stall holders and document the project for unlimited use in publications promoting the city.
