Road Closures

Road Closures

You’ll find on this page:

NOTICE is hereby given, pursuant to Section 32 of the Road Traffic Act 1961, that the City of Holdfast Bay has resolved to close a road, known as an unnamed public laneway that runs north-south between Strickland Road and Seaview Avenue, Kingston Park (‘the laneway’) for the purposes of restricting the flow and impact of traffic within the laneway and on nearby roads.

The closure takes effect on 15 August 2025 and will be effected by the use of traffic control devices placed at the northern and southern ends of the closed portion of the laneway and the laneway’s intersection with another unnamed laneway that runs east-west between the laneway and Barton Avenue

Major construction works as part of the Transforming Jetty Road Glenelg project will begin on Monday 4 August 2025. This includes temporary restrictions on vehicle access to sections of Jetty Road until the end of December 2025, as well as other temporary changes to side streets.

Jetty Road

Jetty Road is closed to vehicles, west of the Gordon / Partridge streets intersection from Tuesday 14 October 2025.
Jetty Road, east of the Gordon / Partridge streets intersection remains open to vehicles as usual as does Gordon / Partridge streets.

The two car parks on Partridge Street also remain open as usual.

The temporary closure of Jetty Road to vehicles will be reassessed in late November to determine if the road way can reopen in early December.
There are additional pedestrian crossing points across Jetty Road between Moseley Street and Gordon / Partridge streets intersection.

Under the current construction program, the roadway and footpaths are being built at the same level, which is a unique feature of the western end of Jetty Road and includes part of Moseley Street and Colley Terrace up to the Hope Street junction.

The traffic lights at the intersection of Jetty Road and Moseley Street will also be installed at this time.

Moseley Street

There is no vehicle access to Jetty Road from Moseley Street until December 2025. Pedestrians can still access Jetty Road from Moseley Street.

Colley Terrace

There is no vehicle access to Jetty Road from Colley Terrace.

A turnaround area has been implemented at Hope Street.

Local traffic is permitted access up to the corner of Moseley Square, which includes visitors to Colley Towers and delivery vehicles.

There is a signposted 15-minute car parking area on the western side of Colley Terrace before Hope Street, for quick visits such as morning coffee runs, pick-ups, drop-offs and takeaway services.

Pedestrians can still access Jetty Road and Moseley Square from Colley Terrace.

Durham Street

There is no vehicle access to Jetty Road from Durham Street.

Durham Street remains one-way southbound between Augusta Street and Chittleborough Lane, with no vehicle access south of Chittleborough Lane.

Vehicles can exit Durham Street via a left turn into Chittleborough Lane which connects to Sussex Street.

Pedestrians can still access Jetty Road from Durham Street.

Sussex Street

There is no vehicle access to or from Jetty Road from Sussex Street.
There is vehicle access into Sussex Street from Chittleborough Lane, which connects to Durham Street.

Sussex Street, south of Augusta Street, is two-way for local traffic only.

Two car parks on the eastern side of the street, near the closure point, have been temporarily removed to allow for a vehicle turnaround area.

The loading zone on Sussex Street near Chittleborough Lane is retained.

There is a signposted 15-minute car park near the police station on Sussex Street for quick visits such as morning coffee runs, pick-ups, drop-offs and takeaway services.

Pedestrians can still access Jetty Road from Sussex Street.

Milton Street

Milton Street has been converted into a two-way street west of Chapel Street through to the corner (near Dante’s Deli).

The St Mary’s Memorial School drop-off zone is maintained on Milton Street. Parking west of the drop-off zone and parking on the northern side of the street has been temporarily removed to facilitate the two-way traffic movements.

Pedestrians can still access Jetty Road from Milton Street.

Soal Street

Soal Street has been converted into a two-way street for local traffic only. There is no entry to or from Jetty Road.

A concrete median at the junction of Soal Street and Augusta Street has been removed to help facilitate the two-way traffic movement.

Pedestrians can still access Jetty Road from Soal Street.

Nile Street

There is no vehicle access to or from Jetty Road from Nile Street.

Access to the Coles car park is open as usual. All other parking on the street is retained, including an accessible car park located at the southern end of Nile Street near Jetty Road.

The current loading zone, near Waffle King, has been temporarily moved 3 metres north.

There is a signposted 15-minute car park on Nile Street for quick visits such as morning coffee runs, pick-ups, drop-offs and takeaway services.
Pedestrians can still access Jetty Road from Nile Street.

Gordon / Partridge Street

No changes to the road operations of Gordon / Partridge Street and the two Partridge Street car parks will remain open and accessible.

Both car parks offer two hours free parking, seven days a week.

Commercial waste collections

Businesses within the road closure areas will receive direct communications next week regarding minor changes to commercial waste collections.

All other businesses that are not within the road closure areas will continue to have their commercial waste collected as usual.

Temporary changes to bus services

There will be temporary re-routing of some bus services between August and December 2025.

Buses will continue to service Moseley Street and, in lieu of Jetty Road, they will travel along High Street towards Partridge / Gordon streets.

Buses will be redirected from Colley Terrace to Anzac Highway with stops near Wigley Reserve.

Please refer to the Adelaide Metro website for up-to-date timetables and routes.

It’s anticipated that bus services will return to normal by the end of December once Jetty Road has reopened to vehicle traffic.

Pedestrian access to businesses

Pedestrian access will be maintained along the entire street during each phase of construction, via temporary walkways or ramps as needed.

From late August 2025

The road closures will extend towards the Partridge / Gordon streets intersection, with more details to be communicated closer to that time.

End of December 2025

The construction work on Jetty Road will be complete, and the road will be reopened to vehicles.

Work will continue into the side streets, on the footpaths and garden beds, with the project expected to be completed in the second half of 2026.

Schedule of works

The above information, including the proposed dates for construction and program of works, is correct at this time.

We are continuing to work through the details and refine plans to ensure access to Jetty Road businesses is retained and traffic can move around the precinct as freely as possible.

However, if there are significant changes, these will be communicated.
