Donations needed in support of Homelessness Week
Monday 14 August 2023
A food collection drive in support of Homelessness Week (7-13 August) has been extended until Thursday 17 August 2023.
Homelessness Week aims to raise awareness of the causes and impacts of homelessness, with more than 122,000 people experiencing homelessness on any given night around Australia.
Locally, emergency relief providers are experiencing higher than ever demand for pantry items.
People can show their support by donating the following items.
- Jams and spreads
- Biscuits
- Cereals
- Canned meals
- Canned fish
- Pasta sauces
- Coffee
- Teas
- UHT milk
- Sweets
- Treats
- Food vouchers
- Toiletries
The following locations will be accepting donated items:
- Brighton Civic Centre, Brighton
- Brighton Library, Brighton
- Glenelg Library, Glenelg
- Glenelg Community Centre, Glenelg
- Holdfast Bay Community Centre, Hove
- INC Café, Minda, North Brighton
On Friday 18 August, the items will be distributed to organisations that provide emergency relief support in the City of Holdfast Bay.
