Did you know that it is e-waste is banned from landfill? All electronic waste (such as televisions, computers and computer equipment, phones, kettles and hair dryers) are banned from landfill. This means you cannot put these items in your garbage or recycling bin.
E-waste can also be dropped off for free at any of the Unplug N Drop locations around Adelaide. See the Unplug N Drop website for your nearest drop off point.
Televisions, computers and computer equipment can all be taken to Adelaide Waste and Recycling Centre (end of Morphett Road, North Plympton) for free disposal.
Electronic waste can also be recycled through the hard waste program. To book a collection, call our Waste hotline on (08) 8295 5077 or you can book online.

Mobile Phones

Dispose of mobile phones via the Mobile Muster Program. Take your phone into any mobile phone shop or Post Office and ask for it to be recycled.
We also have Mobile Muster tubes in the foyer of the Brighton Civic Centre, 24 Jetty Road, Brighton.

Light Globes

Fluorescent light globes are banned from landfill, this means they can’t go into your red lid rubbish bin.

Light globes can be dropped off at the checkout counter of any Banner Hardware, Mitre 10 or True Value hardware store. The light globes will then be recycled instead of going to landfill and it will prevent mercury contained in some globes from harming the environment. They will take:

  • Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs)
  • Fluorescent tubes
  • Incandescent globes
  • Halogen lamps, tubes and bulbs.
