Jetty Road works kick off next phase of transformation
Major construction works, which are part of the Transforming Jetty Road Glenelg project, will begin on Monday 4 August 2025. This includes temporary restrictions on vehicle access to sections of Jetty Road until the end of December 2025, and other temporary changes to side streets.
The construction schedule has been accelerated to allow work in the roadway to be undertaken while the Glenelg tram line is temporarily suspended as part of the State Government’s Tram Grade Separation Project.
This also means that the expected completion date of the Transforming Jetty Road Glenelg project has been brought forward more than 12 months, from the end of 2027 to the second half of 2026.
During all stages of construction, pedestrian access along Jetty Road and into businesses will be maintained at all times.
Starting Monday 4 August 2025, Jetty Road will be temporarily closed to vehicles west of the junction with Nile Street to Moseley Square.
There will be one-way vehicle access onto Jetty Road via a right-hand turn from Moseley Street.
Vehicles will travel east on Jetty Road and will turn left into Sussex Street.
There will also be some changes to road operations in side streets, but parking remains unchanged and the two Partridge Street car parks will remain open and accessible.
During the temporary closures, the roadway and footpaths to be constructed at the same level which is a unique feature of the western end of Jetty Road and includes part of Moseley Street and Colley Terrace up to the Hope Street junction.
The traffic lights at the intersection of Jetty Road and Moseley Street will also be installed at this time.
The construction timeline will see sections of Jetty Road closed to traffic until the end of December 2025.
During this time, some bus services will be re-routed. Please check the Adelaide Metro website for updated timetables and schedules.
The City zone of Jetty Road, which is the section west of Brighton Road to the Partridge / Gordon streets intersection, remains open to vehicles and pedestrians as normal.
