It is looking intriguingly different at the corner of Jetty and Brighton roads at Glenelg – with even more exciting changes to come.

Aside from the fresh pink wrap on the Telstra Exchange building, and bold new Jetty Road branding facing Brighton Road, 21 (of 23) vertical structures were installed alongside the building over the weekend and across the road near the Bayside Village.

What are they you might ask? All will be revealed in the coming weeks.

But what we can say is that when it’s complete, people will never forget that they’ve been to Jetty Road, Glenelg.

The structures will form an integral part of the Transforming Jetty Road Glenelg project, which will ramp up this year and will deliver an accessible, pedestrian-friendly and modern precinct that meets the needs of locals, traders and visitors.

Holdfast Bay Mayor Amanda Wilson is excited to see the plans come to life in the coming months for the Coast and Transition zones of Jetty Road, which extends west of the Partridge / Gordon streets intersection to Colley Terrace.

“The City zone of Jetty Road is looking amazing after extensive renewal construction works and stormwater upgrades, from Brighton Road to the Partridge / Gordon streets intersection,” Mayor Wilson said.

“Now we can turn our attention to transforming the rest of the street.”

Construction work in the Coast and Transition zones is scheduled to commence in mid-2025. This is set to coincide with the State Government’s planned six-month closure of the Glenelg tram line, as part of their Tram Grade Separation Project. The Transforming Jetty Road project is scheduled for completion in 2027.
