Set against our stunning seaside backdrop, it’s the perfect excuse to come out for breakfast, walk along the beach or get an early morning ice-cream before witnessing the world’s best cyclists take off on one of the most gruelling stages.

The event kicks off from 9:30am with cyclists arriving shortly after for event sign-on and pre-race interviews. The Tour Parade Vehicles will depart at 10:40am, followed by a Welcome to Country at 11am. Mayor Amanda Wilson will officially start the race, waving the flag at 11:10am. Heading south along the Esplanade from Jetty Road, cyclists will race 170 km towards McLaren Vale and Willunga, challenging their limits on a triple ascent of the infamous Willunga Hill in an event first.

To help you prepare for the day, below you will find key event documents you can download for your reference:

For further stage information and details on what you can do throughout the Festival of Cycling, visit the Tour Down Under website.

In celebration of the THINK! For the Road Safety Men’s Stage 4 race starting in our region, there will be an Ephemeral Public Art Installation on the paved concourse in front of the Brighton Jetty, north of the Arch of Remembrance. This installation, named Flight Fancy, consists of three bikes with "feather riders", each measuring approximately 1600mm (w) x 1200mm (h), with the feathered riders adding roughly 1800mm in height.

Look out for this fun installation from Monday, 19 January 2026, and be sure to revisit it anytime up to Monday, 2 February 2026. These installations also align with the Brighton Jetty Sculptures outdoor sculpture installation, another fantastic activation to add to your calendar for when you visit Brighton this Summer!
