Carve your own spoon from fresh green timber! In this one-day workshop, you’ll learn how to design a functional spoon, use an axe to remove bulk material, and carve complex shapes in three dimensions using a straight knife and hook knife. Bookings essential.

During the workshop, you will carve your own large serving spoon to take home.

This workshop will cover:

  • How a tree grows, wood structure, grain direction
  • Design and templates
  • Safety
  • Species and timber selection
  • Axe work
  • Carving techniques
  • Tool selection, maintenance, and sharpening
  • Finishing and oiling

Learn from woodworker Sam Ryan, who specialises in hands-on nature-connected crafts, conservation work, and sustainable living.

Participants: suitable for adults and 15-17 year olds (if also accompanied by an adult)
