Holdfast Bay encompasses 11km of foreshore featuring wide sandy beaches stretching from Glenelg to Kingston Park. Our Beaches offer a wide range of water experiences including swimming, sailing, snorkeling, kayaking, diving, stand-up paddle boarding and fishing.
Surf Lifesavers patrol Glenelg, Somerton Park and Seacliff beaches during summer. These beaches will be marked with red and yellow flags that indicate the safest part of the beach to swim and the area constantly is under surveillance by lifesavers/lifeguards.
Adelaide Scuba and Stand Up Paddle SA rent and hire equipment and also arrange lessons / tours to make the most of your experience in the water.
Adelaide Scuba snorkeling and diving tours
Adelaide Scuba is truly South Australia’s Snorkel & Scuba Superstore. It hosts a large retail equipment showroom; an onsite heated indoor swimming pool, state of the art training rooms, dedicated equipment servicing department and dive boats moored at the back door. Stand up Paddle Boarding
Stand Up Paddle SA rents and hires stand up paddle boards from Seacliff beach. Lessons can be arranged and are conducted by the very experienced staff. There is a wide array of stand up paddle boards for rent ranging from beginner to race boards. Boards may be transported to other venues by arrangement.
Dolphin tours - temptation sailing
Temptation Sailing offers customers the special experience of viewing wild dolphins in their natural habitat. Temptation Sailing is a 58-foot sailing catamaran that offers swim or watch dolphin tours plus afternoon tea and twilight cruises. Take in the Holdfast Bay coastline and city skyline to the east and watch the sun sink into the ocean to the west.
South Australia is blessed when it comes to the quality and quantity of our fish species. The iconic Snapper would by far be the most sought after fish in local waters.Snapper are accessible due to our shallow gulfs, and coming in a close second is the famous South Aussie King George Whiting.
There is also Southern Calamari (Squid), Blue Swimmer Crabs, Small Sharks, Garfish, Australian Salmon, Trevally, Flathead and a range of reef fish.

Professionals, amateurs or total beginners, Go Get ‘Em fishing charters cater for everyone who wants to fish. Sailfish 7.2 metre Catamaran fits up to six passengers, has an on-board toilet and twin 150 four stroke Mercury’s. Charters run 7 days a week and launches from the West Beach Boat Ramp, Barcoo Road West Beach.
