Bay Discovery Centre closed until further notice

In a precautionary measure that considers the current public health situation, we are temporarily closing the Bay Discovery Centre, Gallery & Museum and the Visitor Information Centre at the Glenelg Town Hall to the public.

We encourage you to follow our social media channels for further updates.

We are very grateful for the understanding of the community and wish everyone well during this time.

Discover Our Past and Our Passions

The Bay Discovery Centre is a Social History Museum celebrating the cultural heritage of South Australia.

Wander through our galleries to discover the stories of the Kaurna People of the Adelaide Plains, South Australia's Proclamation and settlement, the evolution of beach culture and some of our States most loved identities.

Our Ground Floor Gallery is constantly evolving - bringing together arts, history, and the community through a range of exhibitions and cultural events.

Opening Times

Open daily from 10am to 4pm.
Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and Good Friday.

Entry is by Gold Coin Donation.

The Bay Discovery Centre is just a short tram ride from the City of Adelaide - Stop 17 Moseley Square. For further information, visit the Adelaide Metro website.

We cater for individual visitors, coaches, school groups and local history groups. Contact our friendly volunteers for bookings.

A new permanent exhibition in collaboration with the Kaurna Nation exploring the true history of South Australia. Learn about the settlement of South Australia in parallel with the historical experiences of Aboriginal people.
