Are you a young musician, or band seeking opportunities for paid performances? Are you keen to showcase your talent and contribute to our community being a vibrant place celebrating young people?
Over the coming months, we have a number of opportunities available for young performers within various community events to perform in paid gigs. If you're looking for that next opportunity to perform, and to raise your profile, we implore you to join our Youth Music Register! All levels of playing experience are welcome.
This initiative has been brought to you by the HoldUp Youth Committee, a group of young people committed to providing opportunities and events that provide positive outcomes for young people in our community.
Key dates: Applications are open now. The final date to lodge a registration is 31 October 2023.
Youth Music Register Guidelines
The majority of members must be between the age of 12-25 years old. For example, if your band comprises of three people, at least two must fall within the range of 12-25 years of age. If you are a solo or duo performers, you must be within the specified age range.
Should an individual applicant be aged 16 or under, parental or legal guardian consent must be provided at the point of registration. Minors under the age of 15 years also require parent or guardian supervision at all times while performing.
At least one musician must be able to demonstrate their connection to the City of Holdfast Bay; this may be via live, work, study, or spending time in the Holdfast Bay council area.
Open to soloists, duos, bands, and musical artists of all styles and genres.
All artists are required to have their own public liability insurance to the value of $20,000,000. If you do not already obtain this, you will need to ensure this has been arranged through the Event coordinators prior to the event.
Bands and band members (and their parent/guardian if under 18 years) agree to allow information, photos and video taken at events to be used for advertising or promotional purposes.
Registration does not guarantee performance opportunities. Musical acts will be chosen to perform based on their artistic ability; and their connection to Holdfast Bay council. The HoldUp Youth Committee will form the selection panel to curate and recommend youth acts for various council events. Contact with bands will then occur via the communication details provided within the application
Performance opportunities will be paid and will be agreed upon within an artist (s) agreement prior to the scheduled event. In accordance with the Live Performance Award, the Musicians Australia.
A minimum fee of $250 will set the baseline. The artist fee will be determined by the number of band members, set time and experience.

What you will need to complete the form
- A short description of my band (This might include how long you've played together, a description of your sound, and your key influences (3-5 sentences is fine).
- A file or link to my band's original song submission such as:
- Video or audio file
- A song uploaded on Soundcloud, YouTube or Spotify, etc
- A recording on your smartphone, as long as it is audible
- Social links to share (Instagram, YouTube, Soundcloud, etc)
- Band/Artist photograph
- Acceptance of the Terms and Conditions
- If aged 16 or under, guardian signature and consent
