Builders Stormwater Pollution Prevention

Builders Stormwater Pollution Prevention

Our beach and coastline are important council assets enjoyed and used by many residents and visitors. Polluted stormwater however can quickly ruin the appeal of our beaches and have long-term negative impacts on our marine environment.

Building companies (and their subcontractors) need to take reasonable and practical measures to prevent the deposition of building construction materials and sediments onto the roadways and into the stormwater system. This is part of the requirements of the Environment Protection Act 1993 and Environment Protection (Water Quality) Policy, 2003.
