Planning and Development
The ecosystems in our city are diverse, ranging from suburban gardens to natural woodland, sand dunes, and of course, the sea.
Our western boundary is almost nine kilometres of coastline. It's an attraction for thousands of tourists who visit our clean, sandy beaches all year round.
We recognise that the world is in a state of climate emergency. On behalf of our community we have a responsibility to both mitigate climate change and adapt to forecast climate change impacts.
Across our city, a large ‘urban forest’ of trees weaves its way through the streets and along the foreshore. Trees cool, clean and enhance the beauty and health of our neighbourhoods.
