Volunteers are needed for an innovative research project, which involves participants using a virtual reality headset, to be held at the Brighton Civic Centre this month.

The findings of the research, being conducted by the University of South Australia, will be used to directly influence the redevelopment of the Jetty Road, Glenelg precinct with a focus on pedestrian safety for vulnerable road users.

Local residents are encouraged to participate in the exercise which will take about 45 minutes to complete and will be held at the Brighton Civic Centre between 26-30 September 2022.

As part of using a virtual reality headset to simulate the real environment, participants will also be asked a series of questions.

In return, they will each receive a $30 Jetty Road Glenelg gift voucher.

This research project first began in 2019-20 when the City of Holdfast Bay partnered with the University of South Australia to investigate the responses of people aged over 65, when using the Jetty Road, Glenelg precinct.

The results of that project led to further funding for the university, who have approached us again to continue the research.

If you would like to be involved in the project or to register for a session, please contact Nick Gallomarino from the university research team on 0403 926 348 or via the email link below.
