Thousands support call for more police at Glenelg

A petition with more than 1500 signatures supporting a call for an increased police presence in the Glenelg area has been presented to Member for Morphett Stephen Patterson.
Mayor Amanda Wilson gave Mr Patterson the petition at his electorate office last week. It is now expected to be tabled at State Parliament.
The petition was endorsed by Elected Members in late 2020, after calls from the Glenelg community - including traders, residents and visitors - to have a greater visible police presence and fully operational police station.
The Glenelg Police Station, which operates from Sussex Street, just off Jetty Road, is currently open from Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm from March to October.
And from November to February, it's open 9am - 5pm, Monday to Thursday and 9am - 11pm, on Friday to Sunday.
The Henley Beach Police Station is open 7 days a week, 8am - 11pm.
