Summer send off at the Glenelg Equinox Festival

Wednesday 16 March 2022

Wrestling, drumming monkeys, live music and fireworks – the Glenelg Equinox Festival Street Party on Saturday 19 March is going to have it all, over an epic 12 hours.

There will also be fashion parades, food from your favourite Jetty Road traders, drinks specials, laneway activations, Fringe-style performers and buskers.

The festivities kick off on Friday afternoon, 18 March in Milton Street just off Jetty Road.

Beach Burrito Co will be turning the street into a hub of fun, street dining and good vibes over three days, with DJ Yung Kurt getting the party started on Friday evening.

On Saturday, 19 March, the street party kicks into full gear from 11am – and continues for 12 hours.

Fun on the Foreshore will offer free activities for kids, including monster arts and crafts and The Amazing Drumming Monkeys performing live.

The Stamford Village Green will be set up in Moseley Square and Chapel Plaza is the place to be for lovers of fashion, jazz music and the latest tunes with DJ Filip with An F.

Nature Play SA will take over Cowper Street and kids can get creative by making their very own sunflower bee bombs and bee hotels, with Bricks4Kidz setting up a building zone in Nile Street

Market lovers will find around 20 stalls to peruse at the Partridge Street intersection thanks to Gilles on the Ground.

And to wrap up the street party festivities – and the By the C beach concert – the sky above Glenelg Beach will be lit up with a colourful fireworks display, starting at 10pm.

Holdfast Bay Mayor Amanda Wilson is looking forward to marking the end of summer with a weekend to remember.

“Fireworks are back at the Bay and I couldn’t be happier,” Mayor Wilson said.

“To get together and enjoy a Glenelg street party in all its glory is going to be amazing.”

The weekend’s events continue on Sunday, with the Glenelg Sunset Markets and another beach concert in the evening.

“With picture-perfect weather forecast, Glenelg is the place to be this weekend,” Mayor Wilson said.
