NYE at the Bay and Brighton - all you need to know
Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Bay with a free family-friendly concert headlined by Sneaky Sound System,and massive fireworks displays off the Glenelg Jetty at 9.30pm and midnight!
City of Holdfast Bay Mayor, Amanda Wilson, says Glenelg’s free family-friendly concert offers a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to enjoy the Bay on New Year’s Eve.
“Our popular fireworks displays off Glenelg Jetty at 9.30pm and midnight will, once again, be synchronised with music by radio station Nova 91.9, and if you’re after a cosier celebration, you can pack a picnic and get down to Brighton Beach for the fabulous 9.30pm fireworks off Brighton Jetty.”
Mayor Wilson says, as always, safety is the top priority for crowds attending the event, with a $30,000 grant from the Government of South Australia and close collaboration with traders, licensees, SA Police and emergencies services supporting “a well-planned, well-run, safe event”.
“The City of Holdfast Bay is working closely with State Government, traders, licensees, SA Police and emergency services as we prepare for the event and we’ll be in close contact throughout the night. This year Glenelg is again a Declared Public Precinct on New Year’s Eve, so police will have additional provisions in place to keep everyone safe so we can all focus on having a wonderful time.”
“Our dry zonesare in place in all reserves, along the foreshores, in Moseley Square and throughout Glenelg and our traffic management plan features road closures and speed limitsin key areas.”
The ‘RAA Park and Ride’ Car Park returns to provide safe, hassle-free parking at nearby Harbour Town with a FREE shuttle bus running to Glenelg every 20 minutes. Adelaide Metro is also offering free public transport from 5pm on New Year’s Eve until dawn on New Year’s Day on all its buses, trains and trams.

CITY OF HOLDFAST BAY NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATIONS

Numbers:last year (2017), SAPOL’s crowd estimates were Glenelg - 40,000; Brighton - 15,000.

- Multi award winning Australian duo Sneaky Sound System will be providing their cool club tunes at Glenelg from 6.30pm
- Enjoy roving entertainers and face painters in Moseley Square and on the Glenelg Foreshore.
- Fireworks displays at 9.30pm and midnight, with synchronised music by Nova 91.9 Adelaide.
RAA Park and Ride
Park your car securely at Harbour Town and take a FREE shuttle bus to and from Glenelg. Shuttles run every 20 minutes.
Adelaide Metro is offering free public transport from 5pm on New Year’s Eve until dawn on New Year’s Day on all its buses, trains and trams.
Road closures and speed limits
Special road closures and speed limits apply throughout key areas of Glenelg during the event.
Dry zones are in operation in all Holdfast Bay reserves, along the foreshores, in Moseley Square and throughout Glenelg.
To accommodate our New Year’s Eve fireworks displays:
- Glenelg Jetty will be closed from 3pm on Sunday 31 December 2018 to around 2am on Sunday 1 January
- Brighton Jetty will be closed from 3pm to 10pm on Sunday 31 December 2018.
