Join us to celebrate the joy of reading

Tuesday 7 September 2021
Person reading a book

Celebrate the joy of reading on 14 September as part of the Australian Reading Hour event.

What began in 2012 for the National Year of Reading has turned into an annual event to encourage all Australians to set aside one hour, on one day to read a book.

To mark the occasion, we’re asking the community to tell us where their favourite reading spot is in Holdfast Bay.

Even better if they can share a photo with us that we’ll add to a video montage showing all of the best reading places in our community.

Send us a direct message via our Facebook page.

Or email a photo to mail@holdfast.sa.gov.au and attention it to the Communications team.

The Holdfast Bay Libraries team is also celebrating Australian Reading Hour with two children’s events. Details below.

The theme for the 2021 Australian Reading Hour is #StoriesThatMatter. It aims to explore the role of storytelling in transforming lives and shaping our sense of identity, belonging and understanding – as individuals and as a nation.
