Facelift for Glenelg Foreshore Playspace
Part of the Glenelg Foreshore Playspace is temporarily closed to the public while renovation works are undertaken.
The sand softfall is being replaced with rubber softfall and some of the timber structures are being replaced.
Three new inclusive trampolines will replace the existing trampolines and musical play equipment is being added to the area.
The current playspace opened in 2016 and has been well used by the community.
Its popularity combined with the extreme weather conditions in the area has resulted in the premature deterioration of some of the playspace equipment, particularly the timber structures.
The community can still use the slide and climbing structure on the northern side of the playspace, with public toilets located around the corner, opposite The Beachouse.
The new Wigley Reserve Playspace, which opened in November 2020, is a great alternative while the renovation works are taking place.
It’s just a 10-minute walk away from the Glenelg Foreshore Playspace, along Colley Terrace.
