Chisel and Kelly to rock the Bay
They’re Australian music icons in their own rights and they’re bound for the Bay – together.
Cold Chisel, the nation’s greatest pub rock band, will headline the 4 January 2020 Glenelg beach concert as part of their first ever outdoor summer tour, supported by none other than Australia’s best singer-songwriter Paul Kelly.
Cold Chisel announced on social media in June this year they were putting the band back together. Their upcoming Blood Moon 2020 Tour is even more special given they’ve done only four tours since the early 1980s, despite selling close to 7 million records.
The band's classic songs like Khe Sanh, Flame Trees, Bow River, My Baby, Cheap Wine, Saturday Night and You Got Nothing I Want have become the soundtrack to our Aussie summers.
“We knew that if we were going to get the band back together for another full tour it would have to be something really special,” said Chisel frontman Jimmy Barnes. “We wanted great line-ups and unusual places so that people would remember these gigs for a long, long time.”
Other special guests include The Teskey Brothers, The Detonators and Tim Prestwich Band.
Cold Chisel and Paul Kelly are both ARIA Hall of Fame inductees who began their illustrious careers in Adelaide. Barnsey himself has sold more records in Australia than any other domestic rock ‘n’ roll artist.
Paul Kelly, who gave his first live performance in 1974, has continued to tour and perform his unique style of music across all genres, from bluegrass to folk, rock and country. His latest album, Thirteen Ways to Look at Birds, has been nominated for an ARIA award and features five other musicians who bring bird-inspired poems to life.
Zaccaria Concerts and Touring secured the music legends for the Glenelg beach summer concert series, which kicks off later this year with Tash Sultana headlining SummerSalt on 7 December 2019. Castaway Festival makes its Glenelg beach debut on 3 January 2020 and world-renowned party DJ Fatboy Slim, who had us singing his praises in the 1990s and 2000s, wraps up the concert series on 1 February 2020.
Cold Chisel’s Blood Moon Tour is presented by By The C, Triple M and MAX. More information can be found at www.zaccariaconcerts.com.au
