LWC18, Christmas Pageant, Sunset Markets – it’s all happening at Holdfast!
The summer months are traditionally the busiest time of year in Holdfast Bay, with much of the action centred around Glenelg.
In the coming week we’ll see the Lifesaving World Championship in place on the main beach, with some events also taking place on the southern side of the jetty. This will bring about 4,000 competitors and 1,500 supporters from all over the world in the city for two weeks.
At 10am on Sunday, November 25, the Glenelg Christmas Pageant presented by The Beachouse (and supported by Flight Centre Glenelg and Flinders University) will again delight people of all ages as it proceeds down Jetty Road. Crowds of up to 30,000 people are expected, so take time to consider your travel plans in order to secure the best viewing spot.
On the same afternoon, the Glenelg Sunset Markets will begin on Jimmy Melrose Park in front of the Stamford Grand, with 70 vendors selling variety of goods from 10am to 8pm.
As with any significant series of major events, there will be some rolling road closures for Jetty Road for the Pageant and a high demand for parking. We’d encourage people to look at using both on-street and private parking options, which can be found at Where to park in Glenelg.
