Council Committees

Business Papers outlining the issues and reports for discussion during the meetings are made available on Fridays prior to a meeting. Copies are available online or hard copies can be viewed at the Brighton Civic Centre. Minutes of the meetings are available online and at the Brighton Civic Centre on the Friday following a meeting.

We actively encourage members of our community to attend council committee meetings. Please understand that while meetings are open, it is not possible to join in the debate to speak to Elected Members during the meetings. On some occasions, meetings are closed when topics of a confidential nature are being discussed.

Alwyndor Management Committee

The Alwyndor Management Committee is established to manage the affairs of Alwyndor Aged Care.

Audit and Risk Committee

The Audit Committee is established in accordance with the Local Government Act 1999 and the functions of the Audit Committee include reviewing annual financial statements to ensure that they present fairly the state of affairs of the council. The Audit Committee agenda & minutes can be found here.

Council Assessment Panel

Council Assessment Panel meetings are held in Brighton Civic Centre. There are four Independent Members and one Elected Member on the Council Assessment Panel.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee meets on an as needs basis to recommend and advise Council in relation to the Chief executive Officer’s annual performance appraisal including setting annual objectives

Informal Sessions

Council Informal sessions provide a valuable opportunity to enhance the decision-making processes by providing opportunities for council members to become better informed on issues and seek further clarification.

Jetty Road Mainstreet Committee

The Jetty Road Mainstreet Committee is established to advise Council on enhancing and promoting the precinct as a vibrant shopping, leisure, and recreational area with a year-round appeal to residents and visitors.
