With the current news and situation evolving with Coronavirus (COVID-19), the City of Holdfast Bay is closely monitoring the latest information from Federal and State governments and are working to manage the impact to our people and community.

Customer Service

As of Friday 27 March The Brighton Civic Centre will be closed until further notice.
Alternatives to visiting the centre to request a service:

MyHoldfast App

Our new mobile app, My Holdfast, is now available to download from the Apple and Google Play stores for the IPhone and Android mobile phones.

Planning and development Applications

Plans and supporting documentation for Development Applications currently on Category 2 or Category 3 public notification can be arranged to be emailed to a provided email address for anyone who has received notification from Council, alternatively contact the Duty Planner on 8229 9862 or the Development Officer Planner stated on your correspondence to make alternative arrangements for access to these documents.

Temporary closure of Council-run Programs and Events

Based on the latest government and health advice, we are maintaining services and facilities where appropriate in order to maintain service provision to our community. Prioritising the health and safety of our staff and the community, service provision is being reviewed daily and is based on the latest health advice, with a range of additional measures being established, including increased cleaning, provision and promotion of hand sanitizing, and the practicing of safe social distancing.

We have temporarily suspended or postponed a number of Council-run community programs, activities and events to minimise the risk to the Holdfast Bay community.

Temporary closures:

  • The Bay Discovery Centre, Gallery & Museum and the Visitor Information Centre at the Glenelg Town Hall until further notice.
  • The History Centre until further notice.
  • The Glenelg Air-Raid Shelter until further notice.
  • RIDE and Neuron E-scooters have suspended their operations until further notice. The six month Adelaide Coast Park E-scooter Trial is currently suspended.

Community Centres and Community Gardens

As of Thursday 26 March all community centres will be closed until further notice. This includes all programs and services.

  • Glenelg Community Centre – Closed
  • Glenelg North Community Centre - Closed.
  • Holdfast Bay Community Centre - Closed
  • Brighton Community Centre - Closed
  • Glenelg North Community Garden - Garden closed until further notice - Members to tend to their own plots.
  • Brighton Community Garden - Garden closed until further notice - Members to tend to their own plots.

Libraries

As of Thursday 26 March The Glenelg and Brighton libraries are closed including all programs and services.

All loans have been extended – there is no need to return your items.
You can still access a wide range of resources online, including eBooks, eAudioBooks, and eMagazines – Libraries/eresource

If you are not currently a library member, you can join online - one card

Playgrounds, Skate Parks and Gyms

All playgrounds, outside gym equipment and skate parks in Holdfast Bay area are now closed to the public.

Nature reserves and parks surrounding playgrounds remain open, however people are urged to practise safe social distancing measures.

Gatherings of 10 people or less is allowed in South Australia provided that social distancing guidelines are adhered to, although limiting the number of people gathering to two is encouraged.

Council Rates

We are very aware of the difficult time being experienced by many members of our community as a result of the rapidly changing situation in response to COVID-19.

If you have been impacted by loss of income and are facing financial hardship, be assured we are here to support our community. We have already introduced immediate, short-term measures for ratepayers including temporarily stopping fines and interest charged on rates, and providing options to postpone rates.

Information for Business

This is an unsettling time for businesses as well as individuals,we aim to provide you with the latest information and links for businesses to stay informed.

The World Health Organisation has put together some information about preparing your business for COVID-19.

The Australian Government have also collated a range of information sheets and resources.

A $17.6 billion dollar stimulus package was announced that included cash flow assistance to help small and medium sized businesses.

Community Wellbeing Programs

We have temporarily suspended all Community Wellbeing social group activities until further notice.
These include:

  • Let’s Eat
  • Aqua Fun
  • Fish Feeders
  • Tuesdays at Kauri
  • Coffee Crawl
  • On the Move Day Trips
  • Carers Chit Chat
  • Movie Morning

Our Community Wellbeing team continues to provide support to our older residents and residents with disabilities and can be contacted on 8229 9999.

Events

Following government advice regarding mass gatherings, many events managed by City of Holdfast Bay have been cancelled, which includes the Hounds of Holdfast event planned for 29 March 2020 and all events relating to the History Festival.

The City of Holdfast Bay events team is working with organisers of external events due to be held in Holdfast Bay to postpone any large scale events planned in the immediate future.

Community Events

RSL South Australia ANZAC Day services have been cancelled across South Australia.

Partridge House

Based on the latest government and health advice regarding COVID-19, Partridge House is currently closed to private functions and weddings. If you are planning an event for later in the year, please contact the team on 8229 9980.

Funerals can still be attended by a maximum of 10 people.

Brighton Caravan Park

From Thursday 26 March, the Brighton Caravan Park will be closed until further notice, except for:

  • People who are current guests and have no other place of permanence residence
  • Essential travellers.

Service provision is being reviewed daily and is based on the latest health advice, with a range of additional measures being established, including increased cleaning, practicing of safe social distancing, restricted access to common areas and cancellation of group activities. Reducing your risk

We are urging our community to continue practicing good hygiene, as per SA Health guidelines.

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Sneeze or cough into the crook of your arm or use a tissue and dispose of straight away, then wash your hands
  • Do not attend work and avoid public places, if you are unwell
