Help Shape Our City!
Council is well on its way in its review of two very important documents for Holdfast Bay: the Community Plan (aka Strategic Plan) and the Development Plan. Consultation has closed for the review of the Community Plan and consultation for the Development Plan Review is due to finish with a Public Hearing on 31 January 2012 at 7pm at the Brighton Civic Centre. The hearing provides an opportunity for Council to hear submissions from those who have indicated their wish to be heard, and submissions from any other people.
Following our Community Forum in August (which was supported by the distribution of the ‘Our Place’ discussion paper), Council presented two documents for the community’s consideration in the second phase of consultation:
|
|
(5632 kb) paper outlines the draft community directions for Council over the next 4 years.
(933 kb) paper explains the Development Plan, discusses the various influences on its review (including the 30-Year Plan) and proposes some key projects for community comment Consultation has now closed and an amended Community Plan will be presented to Council in February 2012. Comments received regarding the review of the Development Plan will be collated and Council will hold a Public Hearing on 31 January 2012 at 7pm at the Brighton Civic Centre to hear submissions from those who have indicated their wish to be heard, and submissions from any other people. Council will then draft its Strategic Directions Report for submission to the Minister for Planning.

| Strategic Plan / Community Plan |
The Strategic Plan (now known as Our Place Community Plan) is Council's primary forward planning document. It sets a long-term vision and outlines our future directions and levels of services provided to the community. It leads Council's Business Plan, which sets out future actions and financial priorities for the next 4 to 5 years. The Our Place Community Plan represents the aspirations of the Holdfast Bay community and responds to global and national forces that will shape our community and city. The Development Plan is Council's only legal means for facilitating and controlling the form of public and private development of land within the city It is underpinned by Council’s Strategic Plan (Community Plan) and State Government directions such as the Planning Strategy (the 30-Year Plan for Greater Adelaide). After consultation is completed, Council will submit a ‘Strategic Directions Report’ to the State Government that will list Council's priority infrastructure projects and for amending the Development Plan over the next 4 to 5 years (Development Plan Amendments). |
| Consultation | This consultation phase will run from 21 November 2011 to 14 December 2011 and include 'travelling conversations' scheduled in November and December 2011. |
| Development Act Requirements |
In accordance with the requirements of the Development Act 1993, a Public Hearing will be held to provide an opportunity for people who make a written submission to appear personally or by representative before a Council committee and to be heard on those submissions.
