About our community centres
We are committed to building a strong community that is social, engaged and has a sense of neighbourhood. Our community centres offer a wide range of programs, events, workshops and activities for all ages and abilities.
There are four community centres in the City of Holdfast Bay; Glenelg Community Centre, Glenelg North Community Centre, Holdfast Bay Community Centre and Brighton Community Centre which offer wide range of social, recreational, educational and personal development groups. Other activities are also offered at Partridge House and Seacliff Recreation Centre. Click on each centre below to find out more.

Mental Health First Aid
The 12-hour Mental Health First Aid course teaches adults (18 years and over) how to provide initial support to adults who are developing a mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis.
When: Wednesdays 9 + 16 + 23 + 30 August 2017 (Please note you must attend all four sessions of this course)
Where: Holdfast Bay Community Centre
Time: 1 pm - 4pm

Developing mental health problems covered are:
- Anxiety problems
- Substance use problems
Mental health crisis situations covered are:
- Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
- Non-suicidal self-injury (sometimes called deliberate self-harm)
- Panic attacks
- Traumatic events
- Severe effects of drug or alcohol use
- Severe psychotic states
- Aggressive behaviours

Tax Help Program
The City of Holdfast Bay have partnered with the Australian Taxation Office and the Glenelg North Community Centre to provide free tax help to eligible members of our community.
Tax Help is a group of community volunteers who provide a free and confidential service to help people on low incomes (around $60,000 or less) complete their tax returns online with myTax. Tax Help is available at Glenelg North Community Centre from August to October on Tuesday mornings. Please contact 8229 9999 to confirm your eligibility and to make an appointment.
Clients are eligible for Tax Help in 2016–17 if their income is around $60,000 or less for the income year and did not:
- work as a contractor, for example a contract cleaner or taxi driver
- run a business, including as a sole trader
- have partnership or trust matters
- sell shares or an investment property
- own a rental property
- have capital gains tax (CGT)
- receive royalties
- receive distributions from a trust, other than a managed fund
- receive foreign income, other than a foreign pension or annuity.

Let's Eat! Community Meals
If you and your family are looking for a new place to get a tasty and affordable meal and meet some new people, the Let's Eat! program is perfect for you. Come and join in the fun for $10 per person. Bookings are essential and you can book by calling 8229 9828.
