Home Maintenance

Our friendly team can come to your home and assists with minor repairs, modifications and maintenance. This Commonwealth Home Support program (CHSP) is designed to help you to remain independent and safe within your own home.

Home Maintenance is just one of the Home Support programs offered by the City of Holdfast Bay. These services are offered to eligible residents within our community and are based on a fair and equitable Fee Structure that allows older residents on a low income the opportunity to access quality services.

We offer a large range of minor home maintenance and repairs that can assist you to remain independent and safe in your home.

Home maintenance services may include, but are not limited to:

  • Replacing tap washers
  • Repair or replace outside taps
  • Replacing fly wire in doors and windows
  • Changing light globes (including heat lamp globes)
  • Replacing smoke alarm batteries
  • Replace smoke alarms (where possible)
  • Repairs to some locks, gates, fences and doors
  • Cleaning air conditioner filters, outlets and exhaust fans
  • Re-theading clotheslines
  • Replacing hinges on cupboards
  • Install hose reels
  • Taking hard rubbish to the kerb
  • Turning mattresses
  • Fix leaking toilets (where possible)
minor home modifications

To increase safety and accessibility within your home, we are able to install a variety of minor home modifications.

These modifications may include the installation of:

  • Door shields
  • Handheld showers
  • Grab rails (inside and outside)
  • Magnetic door catches
  • Key safety boxes
  • Meter box locks
safety focused pruning

As part of our Home Maintenance program, we offer low level, safety focused pruning.

Low level pruning may be accessed if the foliage is:

  • A tripping hazard
  • Impacting accessibility to the home
