Hairdressers and Skin Penetration Practices
Tattooists, body pierces, acupuncturists, beauty therapists and hairdressers (that do body piercing)should refer to the Guidelines on the Safe and hygienic practices of skin penetration 2004. to ensure that safe hygienic practices occur to prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and various bacterial infections. Environmental Health Officers will inspect these premises to ensure their practices safe.
A self-assessment survey has been developed by the Environmental Health Team to assess the businesses current skills and knowledge. Businesses that complete the self-assessment and perform well will receive a Cut Above the Rest sticker.
